From early December to January, Parliament Hill, Confederation Boulevard and the downtown area are dazzling with brilliant displays of lights forming a symbolic link of similar Christmas Lights displays in other provincial capitals. The celebration is part of the National Capital Commission's Christmas Lights Across Canada .

The Canadian Tulip Festival brings the City to life with over 200 varieties of tulips enlivening monuments, public buildings, Ottawa hotels, landmarks and homes.
The Dutch Royal Family sought refuge in Canada during World War II and the contribution of Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands In gratitude for the Canadian generosity, the Dutch people sent 100,000 tulip bulbs to Canada, and they continue to send 20,000 bulbs to Ottawa each year.

Nearly 200 teams compete in the Ottawa Dragon Boat Race Festival celebrating a Chinese cultural tradition that goes back 2,400 years.

An outdoor lunchtime performance series spans music and theatre. Noon Under the Bridge happens 2 to 3 times a week at the west arch of the Plaza Bridge near the National Arts Centre on Elgin Street at Queen Street.

The City is filled with sound of Jazz for 10 days in mid-July as the Ottawa International Jazz Festival takes center stage. Local, national, and international artists descend on over 20 venues.

On Labor Day Weekend, the Gastineau Hot Air Balloon Festival fills the Ottawa skies with dozens of colorful hot air balloons. Musical events and amusements flood the City.
